According to the latest statistics of alacero, the consumption of finished steel SA588 Grade K specification products in Latin America in 2019 was 64.2 million tons, down 5% from 67.6 million tons in 2018. The decline in steel consumption in the region reflects the economic contraction of Latin American countries, especially the three major economies: Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. The three countries accounted for 87% of the total reduction in SA588 Grade K specification steel consumption in Latin America. Alacero said the main reasons for the decline in steel consumption in the region are the global economic slowdown, the fall in commodity prices, trade disputes between the United States and its partners, the shrinking world trade SA588 Grade K specification and political uncertainty, as well as the negative impact on Latin American countries and their neighbors in terms of investment.

No. 45 steel is commonly used medium carbon quenched and tempered structural steel. The cold plasticity of No. 45 steel is generally better than SA588 Grade K specification. Annealing and normalizing are better than quenching and tempering. No. 45 steel has higher strength and better machinability than Q345 steel. After proper heat treatment, it can obtain certain toughness, plasticity and wear resistance. No. 45 steel SA588 Grade K specification is suitable for hydrogen welding and argon arc welding, but not suitable for gas welding. Preheating is required before welding, and stress relief annealing shall be conducted after welding.

40Cr steel plate is one of the most widely used steel in machinery manufacturing. After tempering, it has good comprehensive mechanical properties, good low temperature impact toughness and low notch sensitivity. The hardenability of steel SA588 Grade K specification is good. It can be hardened to Ф28 ～ 60mm during water quenching and Ф15～40mm during oil quenching. When the hardness is HB174～229, the relative cutting workability is 60%. The steel is suitable for making medium-sized plastic molds.
