Will ASTM A588 corten steel peel after rusting

ASTM A588 corten steel has excellent corrosion resistance. In natural climate, ASTM A588 corten steel can form a rust red oxide layer with thickness of about 50-100 microns between the rust layer and the substrate by adding chromium, niobium, molybdenum, nickel, titanium, rare earth and other weather resistant alloy elements.

Due to the existence of this dense oxide film, the infiltration of oxygen and water into the steel matrix in the atmosphere is prevented, and the development of corrosion to ASTM A588 corten steel is slowed down, thus greatly improving the atmospheric corrosion resistance and decorative effect of ASTM A588 corten steel.
