A36 is American Standard ASTM material, SS400 is Japanese Standard JIS g3101 steel material for general structure, Q235 is Chinese standard GB700 material. The Q235 steel plate has requirements for the contents of C, Si, Mn, S, P and other elements. But SS400 steel plate only requires S and P to be less than 0.050, and no other element requirements.
