Whose hardness is higher between No.20 steel and No.45 steel, SPA-H marking? Both No.20 steel and No.45 steel belong to high-quality carbon structural steel. According to the characteristics of high-quality carbon structural steel, its carbon content determines the performance of the steel. The higher the carbon content, the higher the hardness and strength of the steel, the lower the plasticity and toughness. The carbon content of No.20 steel and No.45 steel are 0.20% and 0.45% respectively, which shows that the hardness of No.45 steel is higher under the same process.

Advantages of SPA-H marking, ordinary carbon killed steel plate: there is no gas in the steel plate, the impurity is relatively small, the stress is very uniform, and it has good welding performance. It is widely used in parts with high requirements. Disadvantages of ordinary carbon killed steel plate: the surface quality of the killed steel plate is not as good as that of boiling plates, there are concentrated shrinkage holes, and the killed steel plate price is more expensive.

The addition of Ca element in steel such as SPA-H marking can refine grain size, partly desulphurize and change the composition, quantity and morphology of non-metallic inclusions. It is similar to that of adding rare earth in steel. It can improve the corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature and low temperature resistance of steel, improve the impact toughness, fatigue strength, plasticity and welding performance of the steel, and increase the cold heading, shock resistance, hardness and contact endurance strength of the steel.
