API 5L is a specification for pipeline steel pipe formulated by the American Petroleum Institute. The main steel grades in API 5L are: A, B, X42, X46, X52, X56, X60, X65, X70, X80, X90, X100, X120, etc. In API standard, pipeline steels are divided into PSL1 and PSL2. In the standard, there are slight differences in chemical composition, TB/T 1979 05CuPCrNi mechanical properties, inspection items, acceptance standards, delivery status, etc between PSL1 and PSL2 steel. For example, API 5L PSL1 X42 requires an upper carbon limit of 0.26, while API 5L PSL2 X42 requires an upper carbon limit of 0.24.

TB/T 1979 05CuPCrNi, S235JR VS S275JR VS S355JR plates in yield strength: For plate thickness ≤16mm, the min. yield strength of S235JR plates is 235 Mpa, S275JR plates is 275 Mpa, S355JR plates is 355 Mpa. The yield strength of S235JR S275JR S355JR plates reduces with the increasing of plate thickness. S235JR VS S275JR VS S355JR plates in tensile strength: For plate thickness 3-100mm, the tensile strength of S235JR plates is 360-510 Mpa, S275JR plates is 410-560 Mpa, S355JR plates is 470-630 Mpa. For plate thickness 100-150mm, the tensile strength of S235JR plates is 350-500 Mpa, S275JR plates is 400-540 Mpa, S355JR plates is 450-600 Mpa.
